Rejection

Rejection is a bitter pill
best swallowed quick through force of will
Cause left to sprout its roots will spread
and surely fill an empty head
with doubts and fears that drag esteem
to depths so low they will sedate
and strip an empty mind of dreams
and fill a waning heart with hate

How can you not see what I see?
How can you fail to recognize?
My views are based in purity,
there is no room for compromise.

I splay my heart for all to judge,
lay naked in the Broadway lights
with dreams aroused I animate
and manifest that cherished state

where visions flow and dreams transcend
and sounds have shape and colors bend
and all things old are new again.

So when I'm served that little pill
that medicine we all must take
I think about the state of things
how some will love and some will hate

I swallow hard and force it down
and try to smile, resist a frown
and think about how I perceive
what others surly fail to see

But I have sight
So lucky me!
